1. WHICH JEWELRY DOES SHE WEAR?
Which style of jewelry does she have in her stash? Do you see her wearing earrings, a bracelet, a necklace?
Ask yourself some questions about what you see:
- Are her jewelry pieces generally small and subtle? Or larger and intended to be eye-catching?
- Does she prefer silver jewelry or gold jewelry? Or a mixture?
- Is she into very colorful jewelry or just plain gold or silver colored jewelry pieces? And if her jewelry is colorful, is there a dominant color or type?
- Does she have a preferred design theme, for example: flowers, geometric designs, minimalist forms or hearts shaped jewelry?
- What specific styles of jewelry does she favor: statement jewelry, minimalistic jewelry, unique jewelry, a matching jewelry set or party-proof jewelry?

2. WHAT TYPE OF PERSON IS SHE?
You'll also find it helpful just to think about the type of person she is when you're choosing a gift:
- Is she outgoing and enjoys attention, or the opposite?
- Is she sentimental and does she like sentimental gifts, such as meaningful jewelry pieces?
- Does she like dressing up to go out? Or is she more of a "back-to-basic" kind of woman?
- Would she enjoy a piece of bolder statement jewelry to wear for special occasions?

3. WHAT DOES SHE DO?
Another thing to consider is what kind of day-to-day activities your gift recipient does:
- Does she work in a business environment or does she have a job where she can dress more casual?
- Is she able to wear jewelry every day, or only when going out socially?
- How often does she go out? Special occasions only or more regularly?
- Does she have small children which might make regularly wearing long necklaces or dangly earrings difficult?

Calling in the help from a mutual friend or family member is always a good idea. Maybe she mentioned any particular items she's been thinking about getting. Or maybe they can help you out with the ring size, color preference,... What do they think about any gifts you currently have in mind?
